Frequently Asked Questions

Do volunteers need a clinical expressive arts license?

No. Our Volunteer Guild works in supportive, logistical and hospitality roles alongside our therapists. Guild assistants ready the palettes, tune instruments, greet families and keep a peaceful space. If you are an accredited clinician, please say so in the form above.

How are instrument donations evaluated and sanitized?

We look over every instrument we receive, check that it is playable, and clean it before it is used in a session. We can send a donation letter for each accepted instrument.

Can our center or school sponsor a residency?

Often, yes. Recovery centers, schools and care communities are welcome to get in touch. Use the form above and we will talk through what would work best.

Are corporate matching gifts supported?

Many employers match gifts. Chord & Canvas is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, so ask your employer whether it offers a matching program.
